It is with profound sorrow that the Allen and Witherspoon families announce the home going of Beatrice Messie Allen, in her 55th year. This sad event occurred on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Newport News, Virginia, USA.
Beatrice Messie worked in Liberia as a Social Worker at Don Bosco Homes; Social Worker at SOS Children Village; Project Assistant at the Ministry of Justice Child Justice Program; employee in the Human Resource Department, and later Marketing department, at First International Bank; and Secretary at the Ministry of Justice.
She is the Past Worthy Matron Bathsheba Chapter 9 of the Eastern Star; Former President of Circle 2; Former President Episcopal Church Women of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church; Former Head of Lay Readers at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church; and Member, Cuttington College Alumni Association .
Messie was predeceased by her father Burl Allen, Sr., her mother Beatrice Allen Miller who died three days before Messie’s death, and her brothers Jimmy Bracewell (deceased on March 4, 2021) and Burl Allen, Jr.
Messie leaves to mourn her loss her two sons, John Earl Mitchell and Toye Tyrif Allen; three grandchildren, Khloe, Jonathan, and John; siblings, Ian Allen, Musu Blake, Bernadine Allen-Peabody, Brenda Allen-Williams, Burgess Allen, Charles Allen, Hawa Allen and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
Due to the pandemic, attendance at home going services is restricted to family and close friends. Please be advised that seating capacity is limited due to COVID – 19 regulations. Mandatory social distancing and mask-wearing are required.
