Lovette Himiendé Wallace

February 12, 1977 – December 31, 2020

The late Lovette Himiendé Wallace, affectionately called “Vous to Vous” was born on February 12, 1977, in Monrovia, Liberia. She was the daughter of Mr. James Doe-Weah Wallace, Sr. and Ms. Lucia Y. Ward. Lovette was the second child of her father and the first daughter of her mother, both parents of whom are still alive. Lovette was reared by her father and stepmother, the late Mrs. Grace Dwela Ogunti Wallace, affectionately called “Aunty Grace.”

Lovette began her primary education at Calvary Baptist Church school system where she completed elementary school at the Tubman Boulevard campus. She later attended junior high at the Fiama campus up until July 1990, at which point her schooling was interrupted by the civil war.

Having been raised in a Christian household, Lovette embraced the Christian faith at an early age and was baptized at Effort Baptist Church in Paynesville, Liberia, on July 1, 1990, under the leadership of the late Rev. Theophilus Allen.

As the war escalated in Liberia in 1991, Lovette, her stepmother and several of her siblings emigrated from Liberia to Lagos, Nigeria, to seek refuge. While in Nigeria, Lovette and the family resided with the late Mr. Olusanmi Olufolayeni Akintunde and Deaconess Eyilolawi Aduke Akintunde, affectionately called “Mommy and Daddy”, and their children. Through their assistance, Lovette enrolled at the Eva Adelaja Girls’ Secondary Grammar School in Lagos (formerly Girls’ Secondary Grammar School) until 1993. Thereafter, Lovette joined her father and stepmother in Lomé, Togo, where her father had obtained employment at ECOWAS. During her sojourn in Lomé, Lovette became a regular worshiper of the Lomé International Christian Fellowship.

In 1995, Lovette relocated to the United States of America (USA) under the guardianship of her paternal aunt, Mary Stubblefield Johnson, affectionately called “Ma-Mai” where she joined her older sister Grace Tarlay Wallace King to continue her studies. Lovette enrolled at Waukegan High School in Lake County, Illinois, where she successfully completed her high school education in 1996.

Upon graduating from high school, Lovette relocated to Arlington, Texas, to pursue her dreams in the world of arts and further advance her education while residing with Ms. Patricia Stevens (best friend of her stepmother), affectionately called “Aunty Pat.” While in Texas, she made life-long friends and created memories to last a lifetime. With her immense love and passion for beauty, glamour and style, in 1998, she enrolled at the Aladdin Beauty College in Arlington, Texas, where she studied cosmetology.

In May 2005, Lovette married Jerome Dwalu Beysolow in Atlanta, Georgia, and their union was blessed with a son, Winston Edward Beysolow II.

In 2006, Lovette applied her expertise in cosmetology and business to establish her cosmetic line named, Lovely Shade, Inc. After hosting several shows and events in the USA, specifically in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Charlotte it was in pursuit of her dream to build and promote Lovely Shade, Inc. in Africa that brought her back home to Liberia much earlier than anticipated. In 2008, Lovely Shade, Inc. was the featured makeup vendor for the 2008 Miss Liberia pageant. The Lovely Shade, Inc. business headquarter was located opposite of JFK Medical Center on Tubman Boulevard. Her cosmetic line was marketed and sold in a local shops and supermarkets across the city and in the USA. She dreamed of expanding her cosmetic line to other African countries, including Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria before her quest to launch new ventures took her in another direction.

In recent years, Lovette continued to be an ambitious entrepreneur with three emerging companies. Just weeks before her sudden illness, she acquired her business office located at Atlantic House, a commercial complex near Catholic Hospital Junction. Her businesses included:

• Life Stock Enterprise (Holding Company with two subsidiaries)
• Liberia Supreme Electricity (a subsidiary of Life Stock)
• Liberia Swedish-Energy Company (a partnership with Swedemodule, a Swedish company)

Lovette was a genuinely friendly, affectionate, caring and loving individual. She was gifted with so many creative and artistic talents including her unmeasurable sense of fashion, beauty, décor and cooking of several international cuisines for which she will be greatly missed for. She enjoyed decorating, traveling, shopping, cooking, entertaining and watching movies during her quiet time. She was also extremely ambitious, and very self-aware and confident. Her drive and confidence, coupled with her desire to help others led her to pursue politics. She joined the political arena under the guardianship of her grand cousin, David Hne Wallace, affectionately called “Campaign Manager” where she ran as Representative, District No.1, Harper, Maryland County. During her campaign, Lovette traveled through the depths of the county meeting with chiefs, local townsmen and constituents. Although she was not elected, she planned to continue her visits and establish a fishing business opportunity in Maryland County. Talk about always dreaming big.

Lovette traveled and made many great friends and established networks in various countries, including Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, China and the USA. She spoke both French and the local Ghanaian dialect, “Twi”, fluently.

The sad and distress event of Lovette’s passing occurred on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at 5:20 a.m. at the Hope for Women International Inc. in Monrovia, Liberia, following a very short period of illness.
