The Cooper, Askie, Bracewell, Bass and Turkett families sadly announce the home-going of our matriarch, Mrs. Rachel Louise Askie-Cooper, at age 92. Gaga, as she was affectionately called by her grand and great grandchildren, peacefully transitioned to be with her creator on Wednesday, September 21. Rachel passed peacefully in her daughter’s residence in Milton, Massachusetts, surrounded by loved ones.
Rachel was married to the late Franck George Cooper. Their union was blessed with seven children. Two of the children predeceased her. In addition to her parents and two children, Rachel was predeceased by 14 siblings, including most recently, George W. Askie, her youngest and most beloved brother.
Rachel is survived by her children: Alfred Zaza (Vick), Gloria Cooper, Felina Freeman (Emmanuel), Catherine Jaddah (James Sr.), Malvina Libsch (Edmond), and Derick Cooper (Josephine). She is also survived by several grand and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends.
